121 years after the ICM was first hosted at the Federal Institute of Technology, in Zurich, the International Congress of Mathematicians attends in Rio de Janeiro this year 2018. This Congress is a historic opportunity to make mathematics more popular and better known in our society around the world.

Une occasion de plus pour revenir sur les objectifs de la déclaration de Rio sur les mathématiques, pour le monde entier mais particulièrement  pour le Cameroun

Le 06 mai 1992, à Rio de Janeiro (Brésil), l’IMU (International Mathematical Union) déclarait que l’an 2000 serait l’année mondiale des mathématiques. La déclaration de Rio se donnait trois objectifs :

• Le grand challenge du 21eme siècle

• Mathématiques, la clé du développement

• L’image des mathématiques

On May, 6th, 1992, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the International Mathematical Union declared that the Year 2000 will be the World mathematical Year.
The Declaration of Rio sets three aims :

• The great challenges of 21st Century

• Mathematics, a key for Development

• The image of mathematics
